The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a flash flood warning for Larimer County until 6 p.m.

Locations that will experience flooding include southern Fort Collins, Loveland, Drake, Masonville and Glen Haven.

An additional flood warning has been issued for the South Platte River in the counties of Jefferson, Weld, Adams, Morgan, Logan and Washington.

The Cache la Poudre and South Platte rivers are expected to rise significantly by Friday morning or earlier. Move animals and equipment away from rivers and creeks forecast to flood as these streams could widen significantly during the flooding. The roadway or pathway may be washed out and water could be much deeper than it appears. Keep children and others away from fast flowing water and storm drains which could become deadly during high water. People are advised to move to higher ground immediately and to stay away from steep banks of rivers and streams. During a flood, saturated banks can easily break off and fall into potentially deadly, fast flowing flood waters, according to the National Weather Service.

At 2:57 p.m., Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing heavy rain from Loveland westward to Glen Haven. The storms are nearly stationary and backbuilding toward the west. Weather spotters reported 1.8 inches of rain 2 miles south-southeast of Loveland this afternoon. In the past hour, 1.22 inches of rain has fallen.
