The bar was filled with the pitter-patter of puppy paws Saturday as a local distillery played host to an animal shelter.

Feisty Spirits Distillery in Fort Collins held a “whiskey and puppies” fundraiser and dog adoption event to raise money for Animal House, a local rescue shelter. The distillery featured two “feisty puppy” cocktails, the proceeds from which went to the shelter, according to a press release for the event.

feisty-spirits-breakout-box“We’re usually pretty busy, and I figured we might as well donate our proceeds to different organizations,” said Alex Mackewich, Feisty Spirit’s marketing specialist and the event’s organizer. “We want to support the community. Whatever we can do to help.”

According to Mackewich, $150 was raised in support of Animal House. Every dog featured at the event had applications submitted for their adoptions as patrons mingled with the puppies.

“I came for the booze and stayed for the puppies,” said Riley Little, a senior business and economics major at Colorado State University.

The success of the event leaves the door open for future fundraisers at Feisty Spirits, Mackewich said.

“This is the first Whiskey and Puppies, but I do hope to make it into a series with other animal shelters,” Mackewich said.
