Police issue warning following incident in University Village

A Fort Collins resident discovered an intruder in her apartment Friday morning. The incident occurred in a University Village apartment on Plum Street, according to the Colorado State University Police Department.

In response to the incident, CSUPD issued a public safety warning to members of the CSU community.

The female resident saw the male intruder around 5:25 a.m. on the first floor of her apartment. The man was described as 18-20 years old, with a light complexion, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and may have been barefoot.

When discovered, the man immediately fled the apartment and headed east.

According to the warning issued to students, police believe the man may have entered the apartment through an unlocked window. The warning said intruders often come in through unlocked doors and windows, so students should keep doors and windows locked for their safety.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the CSU Police Department at 970-491-6425, or 911 if there is an emergency.
