Recreation Center has new additions to annual Rec-O’-Ween event

This Halloween season, the Colorado State University Recreation Center will be hosting the eighth annual Rec-O’-Ween event in October. The event, scheduled for the week of Oct. 27, has been modified for this year’s festivities.

“This year we are actually changing the event,” said Communications Manager Brittany Heiring White. “This year, we are launching kind of a new event called Zombie Tag. It will pretty much be a giant game of tag on the intramural fields and around the recreation center.”

The game will consist of several checkpoints throughout campus, each holding a certain number of glow sticks. The object of the game is to obtain all five colored glow sticks from the various checkpoints without getting a flag pulled by those playing as zombies.

The free Zombie Tag event is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Students can sign up on csurec.colostate.edu in teams of three to compete for the glowsticks, or sign up to play as a zombie.

For those students who are unable to attend the Zombie Tag event, the recreation center is hosting a pumpkin carving contest on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m.

This first-come, first-serve event will challenge students to carve their best pumpkin design in 15 minutes. Stencils and printed templates will not be permitted for use during the contest. A panel of judges will judge the pumpkin creations and the winner will be rewarded a T-shirt and a bracelet.
