Colorado State supports vice president in wake of allegations

Colorado State University is standing by its vice president for research after the Department of Defense, his previous employer, issued a report stating that he improperly hired individuals to work for him.

Alan Rudolph was hired by CSU in September after leaving his position as director of Biological and Chemical Technologies for the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security.

On July 31, the Defense Department’s Office of Inspector General released a report stating that Rudolph had recruited people he knew personally to work for him and had a contractor hire up to 14 people to work as subcontractors.

The investigation also found that Rudolph had violated ethical rules in competitive bidding processes.

According to an article in the Denver Post, CSU Provost and Executive Vice President Rick Miranda sent a note to campus leaders on Aug. 20 expressing support for Rudolph, despite the allegations.
