“Hundreds of thousands of human rights activists around the globe are standing in solidarity with Palestine, and now it’s time for the Fort Collins community to show their support,” said President of MSA at CSU Israa Eldeiry. “The goal of this demonstration is to bring awareness in a peaceful and organized fashion.”

Gaza separated from Israel in 1996. It has been a center of conflict since 2005 with the election of the Islamic political party Hamas, when the shift from Palestinian Authority to Fatah government in the West Bank and the Hamas Government in Gaza. Palestinian rockets attacked Israel originally and, to date, issues have worsened. Israel holds control over Gaza’s air space, waterways and even electricity and remains the primary occupying power, according to Human Rights Watch. However, according to the United Nations, Gaza is considered an occupied Palestinian territory.

The campaign against the Hamas, an islamic resistance movement, has taken nearly 1,400 Palestinian lives. The MSA will stand and show their support with a common goal to create awareness of what is happening in the middle east. Currently, over 50 Fort Collins community members plan show their support tomorrow afternoon.
