During the severe thunderstorm Tuesday evening, the Lyric Cinema Café experienced a break-in and theft.
At 11:22 a.m. Wednesday the cinema’s official Facebook page posted a statement.
“Along with the crazy weather last night, The Lyric was broken into and robbed! No Joke,” it read.
Wednesday morning, hours after the break-in, Fort Collins’ only independent cinema appeared untouched.
Employee Michael Putlack gave a statement to the Collegian Thursday morning.
“It’s not something we really want to talk about as a business,” Putlack said. “There was stuff stolen, but nothing that cripples us.”
He added that no projectors were stolen, and that the incident will not affect the theater’s programming schedule.
Putlack said the break-in occurred after business hours.
“As far as we know, no other businesses were broken into,” Putlack said.
Fort Collins Projects and Public Information Manager Rita Davis gave a statement Thursday morning.
“On the morning (9:49 a.m.) of June 25, a staff member at Lyric Cinema Café reported an unknown suspect entered the building through an unlocked door and entered the office,” Davis said.
If anyone has information regarding the break-in, please call Fort Collins Police at 970-221-6540.
