UPDATE: Tornado warning issued for Larimer County

Update 4:51 P.M.

The tornado warning for North Central Larimer County has expired, but a severe thunderstorm watch is still in effect until 7:00 P.M.

The National Weather Service Hazardous Outlook states, “Showers and thunderstorms will develop in the mountains and foothills by midday with additional activity will spread east over the Front Range and Palmer Divide by early to mid-afternoon. A few of the storms may become severe this afternoon into the early evening hours over Northeast Colorado.”

The area south of Denver and Akron is expected to get the worst of this severe weather.

Original story, approximately 2:15 P.M.

At 2:03 P.M. Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for North Central Larimer County until 2:30 P.M.  The National Weather Service release states that a severe thunderstorm could trigger a tornado 32 miles northwest of Fort Collins moving east at 10 miles per hour.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 2:45 P.M., and a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 7:00 P.M.
