VIDEO: Firefighter recruits exposed to ‘live’ burns

It’s the ninth week of training for Poudre Fire Authority recruits and this week, they are finally getting hands-on experience with ‘live’ fire.
Instructors start the burn inside of their concrete training building and it’s up to the recruits to put it out.
The recruits have spent the past weeks learning about fire behavior, among other things.
Recruits spent Monday morning rotating through the various different positions like fire attack, vertical ventilation and search and rescue.
Although it is just a practice test, practice makes perfect. And in this profession, proficiency is everything.
This batch of recruits will officially complete firefighter training in less than nine weeks.
Poudre Fire Authority will be recruiting more firefighters until the end of this year.
