If you are wondering why there is an influx of Fratagonia T-shirts on campus, there is a good explanation.
Phi Delta Theta will conclude its four day Fratagonia philanthropy event on Wednesday, Sept. 25 with a barbecue open to the public. The barbecue begins at 6 p.m. and will take place at the Phi Delta Theta house.

The goal of the Fratagonia events is to raise money and awareness for the ALS Association, which Phi Delta Theta has supported since it was founded.
ALS stands for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and is also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It is a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the spine and brain.
“It means a lot for the ALS community and it is an honor to be a part of that” said Alex Duven, a senior and Phi Delta Theta member.
The four day event began with the ALS walk, which took place on Sunday, Sept. 22 on the Oval and drew a crowd of 1,000 participants. Other events included Penny Wars and signatures on the Plaza, with all donations benefiting the ALS Association.
On Wednesday, sorority members will compete in a scavenger hunt and race back to the Phi Delta Theta house for a barbecue.
Duven urges all members of the community to attend the barbecue not only because it benefits a good cause, but also because it is a cool way to come together as a community and fight the Greek stereotype.
“We do it for the community as a whole, rather than a small part of campus,” Duven said.
Mackenzie Hill, senior and Phi Delta Theta member, agreed that these events are important because they highlight the good values in Greek life.
“There is a lot of negative press about frats,” said Hill, “In doing stuff like this, we hope to change those opinions.”

The Phi Delta Theta house is located at 200 E. Plum St. Tickets for the barbecue can be purchased at the door for $5.
