The southbound lane of Shields Street between Plum and Elizabeth Street is open after being closed for approximately 70 minutes Monday afternoon because of a two-car wreck.
Officer Zachary Barnes of the CSUPD said they received a call about the accident at 1:30 p.m. Both vehicles were traveling south on Shields and collided at the intersection of Elizabeth and Shields Street. Barnes said the investigation is ongoing and tickets might be issued later.
Minor injuries were reported. Kim Shepard, 21, said she received burns on her hands and arms from her airbag deploying. She had them bandaged on-site and declined further care.
“I’m banged up but I’m going to be ok,” Shepard said.

The other driver, an unidentified male, received scrapes on his forehead. Damage to each vehicle is estimated at over $1,000.
