Mark Udall to discuss forest health Oct. 12

Sen. Mark Udall has announced he will discuss wildfire prevention and issues facing Colorado‘s forests Oct. 12 in Denver.

“As we saw with this year’s wildfires and drought, coupled with the ongoing bark beetle infestation, our forests need our help,” Udall said in a news release

Udall serves on the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. He will meet with Colorado public officials and private sector leaders at the summit to discuss how to confront problems facing Colorado’s forests.

“From tourism to the outdoor recreation industry, our forests help Colorado thrive,” Udall said.

In June, the High Park fire burned more than 87,000 acres west of Fort Collins.

The summit will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the History Colorado Center.
