CSU‘s Veterinary Teaching Hospital director, Dean Hendrickson, has been promoted to associate dean for Professional Veterinary Medicine at CSU, according to a university news release.
Hendrickson, a clinical sciences professor, specializes in equine surgery and helped develop life-like artificial tissues that students use to practice surgical techniques.

Timothy Hackett has replaced Hendrickson as the hospital’s interim director.
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is an integration of CSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and nationally recognized programs. Last year the hospital served 32,000 patients.
As a professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences, Hackett is an expert on pet first aid and under his leadership CSU’s Emergency and Critical Care Service grew in service expertise and caseload. The program already added a new urgent care service and more faculty and residency positions and plans an expansion and remodel.
The switch in leadership is essential to the college’s success. According to Mark Stetter, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the college depends upon strong leadership to remain a top veterinary teaching program.
“I strongly believe that these changes are integral to the success of the College — success which is dependent upon on a strong senior leadership team,” Stetter said in the news release. “Drs. Hackett and Hendrickson are actively engaged in the College’s missions of teaching, research and service, and understand intrinsically the essential role leadership plays in keeping CSU one of the top-notch veterinary teaching programs in the nation.”
