Woman is first to catch the biggest fish in the Oki Noodling Festival

Lucy Millsap, a nine-teen year old former cheerleader, fended of 200 other competitors in the at the Annual Oki Noodling Festival. According to Outside Online, Millsap took home the title of the first women ever to win top honors in the “Big Fish” category. The festival is an aquatic competition where participants wrangle catfish with their bare hands.

Noodling, is an illegal sport in all but 11 Southern states. It involves the “fisherman, or noodler, waving their arm around in a catfish hole until it bites. The noodler then reels in the catfish with their bare hands.” It is very easy to lose a few fingers or worse.
