Chris Hill, a 33 year-old man who has served for the Poudre Fire Authority department for six years suffered three burns, two second degree burns to his forehead, and one first degree burn to his back. A ceiling and partial roof collapsed during a fire on Sunday at the Bull Run Apartments, located at Merganser Drive, causing his injuries. Hill was brought to Poudre Valley Hospital/UCH, where he was treated and released.
According to Poudre Fire Authority, when firefighters arrived they were faced with a large amount of fire on the outside and in the attic of the two-story, wood-frame apartment building. All occupants were evacuated safely.

FA firefighters worked to bring the fire under control within one hour.
Eight units of the Bull Run Apartment complex suffered damage, with heavy damage to the second floor and roof of two units. Two other units had light water and smoke damage, with no structural damage to the remaining four.
The PFA Customer Assistance Response Team is working with the Red Cross to provide displaced residents assistance with immediate food, clothing, housing, medication and pet needs.
PFA investigators are working to determine the cause.
Bull Run Apartment complex refused to comment.

UPDATE: Injured Firefighter expected to return to work

The Collegian has learned the identity of the firefighter injured in the fire at the Bull Run apartments earlier this week. Firefighter Chris Hill, 33, was injured while working to extinguish the blaze. Hill has been employed in Fort Collins since 2007. He suffered 2nd degree burns to his forehead, and 1st degree burns to his back. Hill is expected to be back to work next week.
