Picture this: You're a new freshman at Colorado State University. Across many tours and events, you find yourself in several rooms of students where people of authority tell you all about student life and the various resources available to you. When time comes to get to know each other, a leader asks you to share "your name, pronouns if you're comfortable and where you come from."
That line, "pronouns if you're comfortable", has been heard by us students many times over. The tacit, inclusion-oriented reminder that students are encouraged to clarify their gender identity among peers. This practice has gained traction in recent years and garnered many opinions across the political spectrum.
When I graduated from Colorado State University with my undergraduate degree I was honored to be named an Outstanding Graduate, and I was also nominated and then selected to deliver the Senior Address at my commencement ceremony. These recognitions, I believe, were largely due to my perseverance through immense hardship, having demonstrated that I was able to withstand a lot of suffering and hardship without giving up while staying committed to earning my degree, and still managing to stay involved with student government, and multiple extracurriculars.

During the second weekend of September, Colorado State University football had their second home game, all of which I have attended so far this year. While it seems like some things are going well, the lack of drinking fountains on the student side or the east side of the stadium is very apparent. Combine this with the fact that every single water bottle must be dumped on the outside of the gates before you enter the stadium, and I think we all know why there’s an uptick in woozy students who spend four hours in the sun with no water.
How long are Colorado State University's administration and the athletic department going to keep fooling themselves with the football program? We are now in year three of the Jay Norvell experience and, to be quite frank, year two of him and the program is a national embarrassment.
