If you do a simple Google search of Turning Point USA, you would be met by this message on their main page that reads, "TPUSA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to identify, educate, train and organize students to promote freedom." This seems innocent enough. I mean, who doesn't love the idea of promoting freedom?
Dr. Tony Frank, chancellor of the Colorado State University System, recommended that CSU campuses follow new Department of Education directives eliminating diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Perhaps he should tell CSU to stand by the laws and vision that has guided this vital Land Grant Institution since 1862.Â
Picture this: You're a new freshman at Colorado State University. Across many tours and events, you find yourself in several rooms of students where people of authority tell you all about student life and the various resources available to you. When time comes to get to know each other, a leader asks you to share "your name, pronouns if you're comfortable and where you come from."
That line, "pronouns if you're comfortable", has been heard by us students many times over. The tacit, inclusion-oriented reminder that students are encouraged to clarify their gender identity among peers. This practice has gained traction in recent years and garnered many opinions across the political spectrum.
When I graduated from Colorado State University with my undergraduate degree I was honored to be named an Outstanding Graduate, and I was also nominated and then selected to deliver the Senior Address at my commencement ceremony. These recognitions, I believe, were largely due to my perseverance through immense hardship, having demonstrated that I was able to withstand a lot of suffering and hardship without giving up while staying committed to earning my degree, and still managing to stay involved with student government, and multiple extracurriculars.
In the basement of the Lory Student Center, a large framed photo hangs right in the entryway of the Rocky Mountain Student Media Corporation offices. It's hard to miss for anyone coming in, whether they...
During the second weekend of September, Colorado State University football had their second home game, all of which I have attended so far this year. While it seems like some things are going well, the lack of drinking fountains on the student side or the east side of the stadium is very apparent. Combine this with the fact that every single water bottle must be dumped on the outside of the gates before you enter the stadium, and I think we all know why there’s an uptick in woozy students who spend four hours in the sun with no water.
How long are Colorado State University's administration and the athletic department going to keep fooling themselves with the football program? We are now in year three of the Jay Norvell experience and, to be quite frank, year two of him and the program is a national embarrassment.

Since November, I’ve been part of a fantastic team of other students, recent graduates and one 52-year-old Emmy award-winning producer and cinematographer gathering material for a feature-length documentary about Colorado State University’s role in our democracy.
A significant number of local individuals and families need your support to get behind HB24-1322, a bill that will allow Medicaid to cover housing and nutrition services. Far too many Coloradans are on the verge of homelessness or cannot get the food they need to stay healthy.
