I’m all for a good doomscroll, and I love bed rotting as much as the next girl. In the rotation of apps I use to waste my time, TikTok is a constant and a staple. I used to predominantly consume what I deemed genuine content: cooking videos or cute animals or even brain rot that was admittedly stupid yet deeply captivating.

Sitting down in a huge lecture hall during the first day of classes is intimidating. You start out introducing yourself to the person next to you, and by the end of class, the two of you are exchanging phone numbers and Snapchats. There’s texting over the next few days, hang-out plans are being made and you feel like you've made your first friend in college.
We take ourselves way too seriously and pretend like it’s normal. I’m all for competitiveness, and I’m all for ambition — I recognize the importance of having drive, of having aspirations, dreaming of being the best and chasing the top echelon of our respective fields. But when did we stop having fun?

Once upon a time, I was a stubborn know-it-all. Now I’m a stubborn know-it-all who writes for The Collegian! A year ago, give or take a month and change, I went into this writing gig firmly believing that I’d cover heartfelt stories or breaking news around Fort Collins.
Not to speak on behalf of all broke college students, but I’d pretty much do anything for an extra penny or two. Especially during the school semester, when money seems to practically evaporate out of my wallet — when, realistically, it’s my fault for ordering Uber Eats three out of seven days of the week.
