Blouch: College is not an excuse for alcoholism

Cat Blouch August 17, 2021
In many ways, drinking is synonymous with the college experience. At Colorado State University, undergraduate students under the age of 21 are required to complete an online alcohol education course.

Tusinski: Fort Collins deserves a better flag

Dylan Tusinski July 26, 2021
Every flag is designed as a symbol. Whether they don stars and stripes, the not-so-aptly-named stars and bars or just a corporate logo on a white banner; every flag represents an idea, organization, nation or religion with which people identify. As a result, every flag, to some extent, is an extension of people themselves. Flags are us.

Tusinski: Live music is back; enjoy it while you can

Dylan Tusinski July 15, 2021
Seeing live music is a way of life for me. I'm a Deadhead, or a fan of the psychedelic rock band The Grateful Dead. The Dead have created a cult following of Deadheads by playing thousands of live shows over the years, each of which is unique and filled with long, improvisational jams that can stretch on for hours.

Tusinski: Police presence at Pride disrespects the celebration

Dylan Tusinski June 24, 2021
The first Pride was a riot. It's become something of a woke cliché to say, but it's true. In 1969, the New York Police Department raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in New York City. The patrons of the bar fought back, tossing bottles at officers and forcing them to retreat and stop the raid. It was a turning point and the first widely publicized act of queer resistance to police brutality, helping ignite the LGBTQ+ movement as a whole.
