5 years ago, anyone who made it famous on the internet was either a joke or an upstart, thanks in part to Justin Bieber. However, this year’s Times list seems to break apart that stigma, awarding the #1 slot as well as many of the other 29 spots to internet stars such as PewDiePie, Nash Grier, Grace Helbig, Justin Bieber, Tyler Oakley, Bethany Mota, and many more.

“The online post, dated March 5, includes Nash Grier, the top-followed Vine user whose 6-second videos have developed a following of 11 million people and 2 billion views (he’s fourth on the list; Barack Obama is fifth); and Vani Hari, the blogger who calls herself the Food Babe, who Time says “bills herself as an investigator, posting exposés under headlines like ‘General Mills or Generally Toxic?’” She reports 54 million visits to her blog last year and is listed 12th.”
