Several bills have been proposed to the Georgia government in attempt to legalize medical marijuana, but none have stood strong enough to pass in the Senate. According to High Times, Gov. Nathan Deal never planned to entertain the idea of a medical marijuana program.

In November 2015 members of the Georgia government were sent to Colorado to observe the marijuana industry. More trips were planned to solidify the state’s research, but were cancelled by the governor.
