Colorado State redshirt sophomore fullback Adam Prentice has been named one of 69 nominees for the 2018 Burlsworth Trophy.
This is the second consecutive season in which Prentice has been nominated for the award.
The Burlsworth Trophy is awarded to the collegiate football player who has demonstrated an exceptional level of play after beginning his career as a non-scholarship, walk-on athlete.
Prentice is currently one of CSU’s four team captains. The Fresno, CA native has totaled four receptions for 26 yards this season. Additionally, Prentice leads the Rams in special teams tackles with seven.
THIS IS THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE SEASON IN WHICH PRENTICE HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR THE BURLSWORTH TROPHY AWARD.
The redshirt sophomore was also previously nominated for two separate community service awards this season. Prentice is a candidate for both the Allstate/AFCA Good Works Team as well as the 2018 Wuerffel Trophy.
The fullback initially walked on to CSU before the 2015 season upon graduating from Clovis High School. After redshirting the 2015 season, Prentice was granted a scholarship prior to the 2016 season.
The fullback was set to start at his position in 2016. But, Prentice tore his ACL before the season began and was forced to sit out every game.
Prentice first saw the field as a member of the Rams in 2017, a season in which he accumulated seven receptions for 45 yards and one touchdown. Pro Football Focus graded the fullback as the most efficient player at his position last season.
