Colorado State women’s golf capped off the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic Tuesday, where freshman Ellen Secor finished in the top-five as she carded a 1-under 215.
The freshman did not compete for Colorado State during the Classic however, rather competing as an individual. Had Secor’s score been counted towards the Rams’ team score, the team would have finished 17 strokes ahead of where they did, jumping their final spot to eighth instead of 12th.

“She stepped up great,” head coach Annie Young said in a statement. “She proved that she belongs in the lineup, and the intensity she comes with is going to be a huge asset for us when she’s in the lineup.”
Secor carded a team-best 74, 2-over par on Tuesday. Senior Elisabeth Rau and sophomore Katrina Prendergast each carded 75 during the third round.
Prendergast posted a team-low 14-over 230.
Like Secor, senior Brianna Becker competed as an individual, ultimately finishing 15-over at 231. Becker’s score was the third best for Colorado State, but again, did not count for the final team score.
“We’re going to be fine, but we need to take an honest assessment of where we’re at and where we need to be,” Young said in a statement.
San Jose State senior My Leander finished 6-under 210, capturing the individual title.
Colroado State will be back on the course next week when San Jose State hosts the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational Spet. 19-20.
