CSU loses 3-0 to Purdue in NCAA tournament first round

Colorado State Volleyball faces off against University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. Tuesday evening. The Rams defeated the Bears three games to one.CSU’s 2012 season ended with a 3-0 loss to Purdue in the first round of the NCAA tournament Friday in Tallahassee, Fla.

Purdue won the first set 25-20 holding CSU to a .071 hitting percentage. The Boilermakers committed six service errors to allow the Rams to even be that close. Purdue hit .276 for the set and received six kills from senior Ariel turner.

CSU showed more fight in the second set, totalling 11 kills, but Purdue hung on to win 25-18. The set was tied at seven before a 6-1 Boilermaker run gave Purdue a working margin it maintained for the rest of the set. The Rams only recorded one block in the set while Purdue rejected three shots.

The Boilermakers kept up their dominant defensive effort in the third and decisive set, holding CSU to a .028 hitting percentage in their 25-19 win to clinch the match.
