Collision results in over 7 hour closure of Vine Drive

Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a two-car collision in the 1300 block of Vine Drive in Fort Collins that occurred on Apr. 23 at 1:57 a.m., during which one person fled from the scene.

According to a press release published by FCPS, an unidentified person, who was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Passat along with a second occupant, rear-ended Fort Collins resident Craig Babineau, who was traveling westbound on Vine Drive in a 2018 Toyota sedan at the time.

The unidentified occupant of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat ran from the scene after the collision occurred, leaving the second occupant of the car with serious, not life-threatening injuries.

The unidentified occupant of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat, who fled the scene, has not been located.

The second occupant of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat was transported to Poudre Valley Hospital by ambulance and was medically treated and released.

The collision resulted in the closure of Vine Drive for approximately seven and a half hours while the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team investigated the incident.

Police believe alcohol and speed could have been factors in the collision, and they are working to determine the identities of all the occupants of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat.
