With the upcoming Rocky Mountain Showdown just days away, the Associated Students of Colorado State University will host the 10th annual Grill the Buffs event Thursday, September 1. From 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., students will be served free buffalo patties in the Lory Student Center Sculpture Garden.
The yearly tradition draws a big crowd, and serves as an event to excite students about the upcoming game and show their ram pride. The football team, the cheerleading team, Head Football Coach Mike Bobo and the C.A.M. the Ram will be present at the event.

ASCSU is expecting a big turnout, according to Christina Vessa, the ASCSU Deputy Chief of Staff. Upping the buffalo patty count from last year, Grill the Buffs will have 2,000 buffalo patties, 500 more than last year. However, Vessa anticipates the food to be gone within a few hours. Last year, all the buffalo burgers were eaten before 1 p.m., according to a 2015 Collegian article.
Grill the Buffs is part of the First 50 Days list, an initiative by Orientation and Transition Program to get first year students involved in CSU traditions and events.
