The free and public event, titled “Organic Agriculture: A Complement or Competitor to conventional methods for sustainably feeding the world?” will feature panelists from agriculture related departments throughout the university.

It will be part of the School of Global and Environmental Sustainability’s Managing the Planet Panel Series.

Panelists include Meagan Schipanski, Jessica Davis, Gregory Graff, Garry Auld and moderator Gene Kelly, soil and crop sciences chair and director of research for the School of Global and Environmental Sustainability.

The panel will be considering the many pros and cons of the growing organic agriculture industry that have been brought up in the media and in the scientific realm.

The main question is whether organic agriculture will be able to feed the earth’s growing population or if less sustainable conventional practices will be required.
