Senior Meghan Heimstra took the Boise State Broncos for a ride on Saturday afternoon.

She stole the spotlight Saturday with a career-high 25 points to go along with 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks in a 72-60 win for CSU.
The victory for the Rams tied their conference record with Boise, at 5-9. The Rams improved their overall record to 12-15, placing them further ahead of Boise, who are 9-18.
Similar to their January 30th win, the Rams played big defense, and that won it for them again.
Even with 29 points, Boise State sophomore Brandi Henton could not lead her team to a victory against a solid CSU defense.
“I don’t think she likes our lane,” said Heimstra. “Sam has always guarded her well, I think that’s a good matchup.”
CSU racked up seven blocks, 10 steals and forced 14 turnovers, compared to only two blocks, two steals and seven forced turnovers by the Broncos.
The Rams converted those seven turnovers into 10 points. Junior Sam Martin and freshman Caitlin Duffy aided the team on both ends, tallying 29 points, 15 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals between them.
Duffy’s 13 points marked her 15th double-digit game of the season, and she remains the team’s second-leading scorer behind Martin.
CSU lead by as many as 14 points in the second half and maintained a double digit lead for most of the second frame.

“We really got going because we got inside every possession,” Martin said. “That was our game plan, and I think we did a really good job with it.”
In CSU coach Ryun Williams’ mind, the win was tied to Heimstra’s exemplary performance.
“That was the best we’ve probably seen Meghan,” he said. “She had a warrior mentality tonight. She’s led us in the toughness category.”
Heimstra also realizes her career is nearing its conclusion, and doesn’t want to regret a lack of effort.
“We love playing at home,” Heimstra said. “You know, I’m just leaving it all on the court, not having any regrets and playing with my girls. I only have a couple more games left.”
Those games include their last regular season games against Wyoming and Nevada before they enter into conference tournament play.
The Rams look forward to their second Border-War game Wednesday night, which is also family night at Moby Arena.
“Wyoming is a big game for us,” Martin said. “If we can score like this, we can beat them. Going into the conference [championships] with more wins under our belt, we can go in there with some confidence.”
Although the team has shown marked improvement over the season, and their defense is solid, Boise out-rebounded them 53-43.
“Defensively, it was a nice job,” said Williams. “Offensively, surely wasn’t a clinic. They aren’t just waiting for the season to get over, this group is grinding this thing out and for that I’m really proud.”
