CSU volleyball sweeps UNLV for clutch MW victory

CSU volleyball hosted UNLV in Moby Thursday night for a high-stakes MW matchup. Going into the match, each team was only a half game back from division leading San Diego State.

Thursday night pulled the Rams closer to their fourth consecutive MW title as they defeated the Rebels 3-0; 25-17, 25-16 and 25-22.

The first set was a bit of a struggle for both teams as they each were guilty of giving up unforced errors.

CSU gave up six but also recorded 16 kills to counteract, five of them being from senior outside hitter Dana Cranston, including a rocket shot to close out the first set 25-17.

The second set told a different story than the close fought first as CSU showed more dominant than in the game prior. The Rams took the lead from the Rebels at 3-2 and never gave it back before putting it to rest 25-16.

The third set ultimately ended being the final of the match, but UNLV didn’t go down without a fight. It was easily the strongest set for the Rebels as they were able to post a .268 attacking percentage before falling short 25-22.

CSU improves to 16-7 (9-3 MW) and UNLV falls to 16-9 (8-4 MW).
