CSU to host 35th Annual AISES Pow Wow for Native American Heritage Month Saturday

To kick off Native American Heritage Month, the 35th annual AISES Pow Wow comes to Colorado State University. A Pow Wow is a celebration of Native American culture, history and values for multiple indigenous nations and tribes, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. It is a place for singing, dancing, eating and overall honoring the traditions of Native Americans.

Dia de los Muertos is a holiday to honor the dead. It is a celebration across multiple days. It is a place for honor and worship and while different places celebrate it differently, the altar serves as the commonality and how it appeals to each different persons dead. There are many aspects to this day but one of the most important is the ‘ofrendas,’ also known as the altars.
