Despite recent advances in space exploration, many of us will never get to see the surface of another planet in person. Luckily for us, there are some spectacularly strange locations on Earth to visit instead. 

Locations such as the Atacama Desert in Chile, which NASA uses to test instruments such as the Viking 1, 2 and Phoenix Mars Lander, provide us with a way to glimpse otherworldly beauty.

Not only are there above ground locations to see, but many sites, such as the Blue Hole of Belize can be viewed out at sea as well.

According to Trip Advisor, the Blue Hole of a Belize “was originally an above ground  cave and as the water levels rose the weight of the water caused the roof to collapse and form an almost perfect circular hole.”
