Astronauts are some of the most looked up to people in the world. Their job requires them to go beyond the reaches of gravity, beyond the atmosphere, and up among the stars. However, despite the many sayings that tell you to shoot that high, being that high is, in reality, terrifying and dangerous.

““In space, no one can hear you scream.”

The famous tagline from one of the scariest sci-fi movies of all time — 1979’s “Alien” — is also a phrase that could describe many terrifying, life-threatening incidents experienced by men and women who’ve left the safety of Earth and almost didn’t make it back from space.
