U.S. consumers use credit cards for ‘crazy purchases’

credit cardWhile it main seem like a bad idea to make big purchases on credit cards you can’t pay off, many Americans use their cards for extravagant purchases such as tattoos, cars and weddings, according to a survey released on Monday from CardRatings.com.

According to an article by the LA Times:

The top responses from the 57% who said they made a crazy credit card purchase were adult entertainment (6.7%), scalped tickets to concerts or sporting events (6%), cars (5%) and college tuition (4.7%).

Despite the appeal of having a large item right then and now, the article warns consumers to only use their cards for items they can immediately pay off.
