Hawaiian police to adopt army tattoo ban

The ongoing revision of the army’s tattoo regulations continues to cause a stir among local tattoo parlors who will see the proposed policy impact their business. However, these new regulations expanded beyond the army to police units across the country, according to Hawaii News Now. 

According to reporter Lynn Kawano:

Honolulu Police officers will have to cover up their ink with clothes or makeup starting on July First.

The department said the change is to project a more professional image.  But many officers have complained that wearing long sleeves in addition to body armor and a gun belt will be difficult in the summer.
