There may be a new option in tattoos on the horizon for our gadget obsessed generation: imbedded chips that display gifs only viewable from a smartphone.

Artist Anthony Antonellis has created a chip with 1KB of storage to allow for different files to be stored and displayed from under the wearer’s skin.  However, the technology is still in the early stages of development and has a limited library of images.

“I’m going to have different artists create different artwork on here, so it’ll be kind of like a digital, Net-art tattoo,” Antonellis said to Discovery News.
