The Lyric Cinema Café, a staple of Old Town Fort Collins, is moving to a new location, and as with any big change, we have mixed feelings.
The Lyric, a local movie theater famous for their comfy couches, diverse film selection and variety of concessions, is cherished by many Colorado State University students. If the inviting atmosphere didn’t entice students and Fort Collins residents, then the plethora of events surely did. From the collection of horror movies presented throughout October, the countless retrospectives, bad movie nights and their support for local film, the Lyric offers something for just about anyone looking for a unique movie going experience.
That being said, we feel bittersweet about the Lyric moving further away from campus. The Old Town location and quaint vibe will be missed, but we can rejoice in this beloved theater’s triumphs. This local business is moving on up, and we should feel optimistic for what is to come in the future. Sure, the commute will be a little longer, but we hope that the Lyric will maintain the charm that students and residents have come to treasure, just on a larger scale.
We will still have great movies and events to look forward to, and while we may be losing the Lyric we have come to know, who’s to say that this new leap won’t be just as sweet?
