1. Gaze at Sagrada Familia
All of the photos I had seen of Sagrada Familia did not do this basilica justice. The exterior is completely covered with sculptures and the inside is bright and spacious. Every single detail of this structure was thought out. Be sure to get an audio guide tour to learn all the ins and outs of this magnificent work in progress. Buy your tickets online to avoid the long lines. Entrance into Sagrada Familila basilica and an audio tour cost 15 EUR with a student ID, or 18 EUR without one.

2. Wander through Park Guell
Park Guell is a garden complex with decorative structures situated on the hill of El Carmel in the Gràcia district of Barcelona. Entrance into the park is free. The buildings scattered throughout the park are oddly shaped and covered with colorful mosaic tiles. Go to the top of the park for a great view of the city.
3. Frolic in Egyptian Sands
The sand on the beaches in Barcelona is not native to the area. The sand you see was shipped to Barcelona from Egypt to generate greater tourism. Even though the sand beaches are a fraud, they do their job. These beaches are beautiful and offer a wonderful spot to soak in some sun rays.
4. Walk through La Rambla
La Rambla is a large tree lined street, filled with restaurants and shopping. This is the perfect place to buy some souvenirs and try local food. Be sure to sample some local paella and sangria while you are in Barcelona. But be careful when you order drinks. My friend and I ordered two sangria and we were brought enough alcohol for four people!
