
On hot days in the summer, Grand Canyon hiking can be dangerous. According to “Woman dies while hiking in Grand Canyon,” by Miguel Otarola, a woman who was hiking with a group of five people died on South Kaibab Trail Sunday afternoon.
“The recorded high for Sunday afternoon was 113, according to the park. An excessive-heat warning was in effect for the Grand Canyon through Sunday evening, the Weather Service said. Phantom Ranch suffered a water shortage Friday after rangers discovered a leak in the pipeline carrying water to the area, according to the Park Service,” Otarola wrote.
