Shortly after 4:45 p.m. Thursday, the Larimer County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call reporting a lightning strike injuring farmers.
According to a Wellington Fire Protection District spokeswoman 8 people were transported to local hospitals. Some were taken to Poudre Valley Health, while the remaining were transported to Medical Center of the Rockies.

The lightning strike occurred at the Grant Family Farms location north of Fort Collins. The company’s official twitter page posted a tweet saying, “The workers struck by lightening were NOT workers of Grant Farms!”
The identites and gender of the workers injured have not been released. Wellington Fire Protection District could only confirm the condition of one worker, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
