Forrest Czarnecki is honored and excited to serve as the editor in chief of The Collegian for the 2019-20 academic year. If you have read The Collegian online before or picked up a copy of the newspaper, the name might seem familiar — Czarnecki has been working at The Collegian since the fall of 2016, starting out as a staff photographer, transitioning to the photo editor position early last year and now stepping up to the role of EIC.
Outside of working for The Collegian, Czarnecki has been a freelance photojournalist for community newspapers along the Front Range for the past several years. He also interned with the National Park Service from October 2017 to September 2018 as an online communication specialist and content creator.

In true Colorado fashion, Czarnecki enjoys spending his free time outdoors. He can often be found with a fly fishing rod, a pair of ski poles or some split reins in one hand and a camera in the other. Besides fishing, skiing and horseback riding, Czarnecki takes advantage of any opportunity to do something fun where there is no cell service and more trees than people.
In addition to working at The Collegian, Czarnecki is active in several clubs on campus. He is now the president emeritus of the Colorado State University Science Communication Club through the department of journalism and media communication, and he is a rider on the Ranch Horse Team. In years past, he has been involved with the CSU chapter of Backcountry Hunter and Anglers and the CSU Fly Fishing Club.
If you see him around on campus, usually with a press pass and camera dangling around his neck, feel free to say hello or strike up a conversation with him.
