Tuesday 60 percent of Pueblo County voted to pass a measure that will allocate marijuana tax revenues to provide students with college scholarships, according to CNN.
“The whole point of the scholarship program was to make higher education a reality for families who can’t afford to send their kids to school because of debt,” said Paris Carmichael, a Pueblo County spokesperson.

Starting in 2017, marijuana growers will see a 5 percent tax increase. A predicted $3.5 million in revenues will be split in two. Half to fund the student scholarship program, the other half will be used for community projects.
