Our View: Watch Hickenlooper, Beauprez debate

Earlier this semester, the Collegian encouraged the candidates running in the upcoming midterms to come to CSU and seek the votes of university students. This Thursday, just that will be happening. Governor John Hickenlooper and his opponent Bob Beauprez will be debating at 7 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Theatre.

Hosted by KUSA and the Coloradoan, the debate will be available for online stream on the Coloradoan website, or on Channel 20. Tickets to the debate in the 400-seat theatre are already sold out. You can live tweet questions to #fcdebate, and your question may be asked during the course of the debate. Questions can also be submitted to the Coloradoan website or emailed to NickColtrain@Coloradoan.com.

While we have reservations about how the event has been publicized to students, we hope that CSU students do not waste this opportunity. Whether you watch the debate online or in person, give a brief hour out of your busy schedule to show that Colorado State students are not apathetic, and care about their right to determine the officials who represent them. Otherwise, you jeopardize the potential for future candidates to see the weight of the voice of our University.
