Engineering E-Days allows for senior design teams throughout the College of Engineering to showcase their two-semester-long projects. The first semester of development is focused on design, while the second semester is focused on building, testing and redesigns.
Teams are often multidisciplinary and consist of students from mechanical, chemical, civil, electrical and computer and biomedical engineering majors. The projects are either company or research sponsored, and teams use their engineering skills for real-world applications. An advisory board judges all the projects and presents awards to the most impressive ones.
Some of the projects are part of upcoming competitions and will be leaving CSU in the coming weeks. The ECO Car will travel southern California and Arizona, FSAE will travel to Lincoln Nebraska to race their car and the NASA rocket team will be going to Alabama to launch their rocket with hopes of making it to 10,000 feet.
The industry projects are often funded by a sponsoring company. Members of the UAV Water Measurement Team, sponsored by Alden, will travel to a power plant to measure the waste heat plume. Other industry sponsors include Cummins, Boeing, Woodward, John Deere and Pioneer Engineering.
