ASCSU debate for presidential candidates to occur Wednesday

The presidential candidates for the Associated Students of Colorado State University will debate at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Lory Student Center Theatre. The debate will be broadcasted live on channel 11 and on Collegian.com. A reporter from CTV will be moderating the debate.

The candidates running for ASCSU president are Ashley Higgins and Daniela Pineda Soracá. Higgins is the current ASCSU deputy chief of staff, and chose Senator Steven Losolla as a running mate. Pineda Soracá does not hold a current position in ASCSU, and chose Senate Membership Officer Mike Lensky as her running mate.

The two campaigns had a debate last Friday on the plaza, which had about 25 people in attendance. Issues that were discussed included ASCSU diversity, potential problems caused by the stadium and the city housing occupancy ordinance, commonly known as U+2.

The student organization has attempted to change the ordinance this year, which limits occupancy of houses in Fort Collins to three unrelated adults, with a petition to allow four unrelated adults to live together.
