Firemen and police officers arrived on campus after being told about a possible fire in the Plant Science building. Emergency personnel found that a motor had burnt up on the air system in the Plant Science building’s basement, according to Fort Collins firefighter Scott Wiggins.

A Colorado State University spokeswoman confirmed that there was no fire and that the problem was a faulty HVAC system.

While there was some smoke in the basement and an odor that spread throughout the building, Wiggins said that the building is safe. The vehicles began leaving campus at approximately 4:15 p.m.
