In October 2011 the Colorado State University System Board of Governors approved a renovation project on the Lory Student Center. The construction began just two years later, with the goal of being completed in time for the fall 2014 term.
According to the renovation website, the project includes the original 160,000 gross square feet of the center and adds another 69,000 square feet.
The board approved a total of $60 million to $65 million in funding for the renovation, $5 million of this came from the student center reserves.
The rest of the funding came from a $70 student center fee, approved by the students, that CSU began charging in April 2011.
After almost two years of reconstruction, Colorado State University organizations are beginning to move into their new homes in the Lory Student Center next week.
