While Fort Collins does well when it comes to percentage of homes in the community that properly dispose of their hazardous waste, it is still important for more residents to take proper disposal seriously, according to Errin Henggeler, an environmental regulatory specialist.

“Hazardous waste can put our waste haulers at risk and jeopardize our landfill if contamination were to get into that,” Henggeler said. “[Proper disposal] also helps your own indoor air quality and health of your own home. ”

There will be a limit of 30 gallons of waste per household. Residents may take their additional hazardous waste to the Larimer County Household Hazardous Waste Facility area of the landfill.
