Five Colorado universities among 55 with open Title IX sexual violence investigations

CU-Boulder and the University of Denver are among 55 higher education institutions currently being investigated for possible violations of Title IX over handling sexual violence and harassment complaints.

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights released the list Thursday. It is the first public, comprehensive list of all campuses under review, according to a press release.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex for all educational programs or activities that receive federal funding.
