Running for veterans

Nov. 10 marks the third annual Veterans Day 5k race, sponsored by the Adult Learner and Veteran Services office and the Student Veterans Organization.

This year’s run/walk is being held in honor of Army Staff Sgt. Michael Parrott, a former CSU facilities employee who was killed in action on Nov. 10, 2005 in Khalidiyah, Iraq.

The race will take place at the Oval from 7:30-9 a.m. on Sat., Nov. 10. Net proceeds from the event benefit the CSU Veterans Scholarship to assist a disabled student veteran.

Preregistration is available online at www.active.com, keyword “Veterans Day.” The price is $25 for participants 17 & under, $30 for participants 18 & under, or $20 per person for teams of three or more. Fees increase by $5 the day of the race.

All race participants will receive a commemorative Veterans Day 5k t-shirt as well.
