End of Fourth Quarter: Colorado State 19, Hawaii 31

With just a few minutes left in the game, it looked like CSU was in position to mount a comeback. On a 4th-and-1 try from UH, Cam Barfield bounced off his offensive line in what was supposed to be a dive play for one yard and broke away for a 35-yard rushing touchdown.

Brousseau took a sack on his first play after the 2-minute warning, and CSU sputtered with a comeback already improbable.

UH ran out the clock in victory formation.

Fourth Quarter: Colorado State 19, Hawaii 24

Tahj Bullock sealed another long drive from 3-yards out in what looked like an offensive turnaround. The offense played better in almost every aspect in the second half.

Fourth Quarter: Colorado State 13, Hawaii 24

Jackson Brousseau threw his first touchdown of the night seven yards to Armani Winfield after displaying some chemistry with him in the weeks he’s been CSU’s field general. It was also the first offensive touchdown of the night, and the Rams had been in a sort of offensive slump before sustaining a drive and scoring in the redzone. 

CSU went for the 2-point conversion and failed.

Third Quarter: Colorado State 7, Hawaii 24

The Rams made a big stop on third down to force the Rainbow Warriors to kick a field goal after a lengthy battle in the redzone. CSU looked like it created a turnover when AJ Noland got his hands on a pass, but he couldn’t come down with it.

UH also missed out on a wide-open receiving touchdown, so it was a forgettable redzone series for both teams.

Second Half: Colorado State 7, Hawaii 21

Alejado displayed a rare combination of safety, consistency and playmaking against CSU and scored another touchdown from nine yards out to Harris.

Aside from his one interception in the first half, the young signal caller didn’t make many mistakes. He escaped the pocket with great agility while keeping his eyes downfield for open receivers and consistently gave his pass catchers more time. Alejado’s accuracy has been great throughout the game, and a perfectly-placed ball in the back of the endzone to Harris only affirmed that.

End of First Half: Colorado State 7, Hawaii 14

The Rams looked discombobulated to end the first half.

CSU’s offense lacked urgency and time management before Jalen Dupree fumbled on the last offensive drive. It looked like the Rams were stringing together something at the end of the second quarter, but they finished with just 106 total yards on the half.

CSU even had to send its defense back on the field after a miscommunication when UH had time for one more play. Besides Kinnard’s special teams highlight, the Rams couldn’t get much going consistently.

Second Quarter: Colorado State 7, Hawaii 14

Jackson Harris added another highlight reel to his collection after making a one-handed catch and turning it into a 75-yard receiving touchdown. The Rainbow Warrior turned on the jets and wove his way through poor tackling attempts from CSU all the way into the endzone.

That was UH’s first and last play of the possession.

End of First Quarter: Colorado State 7, Hawaii 7

Javion Kinnard returned a UH punt 91 yards for a touchdown after CSU held the Rainbow Warriors to a 3-and-out on the previous possession. The true freshman retreated back to the ball after misjudging the kick and wove his way through almost the length of the field, directing traffic along the way.

“Chop” Kinnard had a breakout of sorts last week and looks on track to improve upon it.

First Quarter: Colorado State 0, Hawaii 7

Micah Alejado picked apart CSU on UH’s first drive. The blossoming freshman went 6-for-8 for 68 and cashed in on a wide-open Nick Cenacle up the middle for a touchdown.

After a 6-yard rush and two incompletions, Bryan Hansen boots an uncharacteristic 34-yard punt.
