The fall weather is finally starting to take hold up here in Fort Collins. So as you begin to gather your warm drinks and fuzzy blankets, it is time to add some new cozy romance novels to your to-be-read pile. This list has five recommendations for every type of fall lover.
1. ‘The Café Between Pumpkin and Pie‘ by Marina Adair, Kate Angell, Stacy Finz
“The Café Between Pumpkin and Pie” is an anthology consisting of three short romance stories. Each one is set on Halloween night in the small town of Moonbright, Maine. In Moonbright, a local legend follows women around on Halloween night. Apparently, single women are destined to marry the man they see reflected in a mirror on the night of Halloween. The stories in this book follow three single women as they each find romance on Halloween. The book hints at some sex and has some spicy scenes but never actually depicts anything on page. It even has recipes in the back that come from the titular café. It is a fun, quick read for anyone who wants to curl up with some leftover Halloween candy and get cozy with a good book.
2. ‘The Cinnamon Bun Book Store‘ by Laurie Gilmore
“The Cinnamon Bun Book Store” follows the romance between Hazel and Noah as they unravel a mysterious set of clues left in the bookstore where Hazel works. While the clues were not supposed to lead to romance, Hazel and Noah fall for each other, hook, line and sinker. This book, the second in the Dream Harbor series, is set during the changing seasons. It is late September, right as the leaves are changing colors and fall is beginning, when the events of this story take place. This book has a significant amount of smut toward the end. It is perfect for readers who want to watch the leaves change colors and gently drift to the ground in early fall.
3. ‘The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy‘ by Megan Bannen
“The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy” is a fantasy novel set in the magical world of Tanria. It follows the two main characters, Hart and Mercy. Hart, a man tasked with patrolling the wilds of their world, grates against the local undertaker, Mercy. Unbeknownst to each other, they exchange anonymous letters — bearing their souls — and eventually fall in love. The book does contain some smut, but nothing that is too extreme. This book deviates just a little from the traditional cozy novel and offers a fall romance novel for all the Halloween lovers out there.
4. ‘Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea‘ by Rebecca Thorne
“Can’t Spell Treason without Tea” is another fantasy title on this list. This book focuses on Reyna and Kianthe, who simply want to open a joint tea and book store and relax. However, as both women run away from their duties, Reyna, a royal guard, and Kianthe, the most important mage in the country, quickly find that they can not escape their past as easily as they want to. There is no smut in this book — just warm fuzzies. This book is perfect for tea lovers who want a romance novel to enjoy while sipping on a freshly brewed mug of tea.
5. ‘The Pumpkin Spice Café‘ by Laurie Gilmore
“The Pumpkin Spice Café” is the second entrance on this list from Laurie Gilmore. She writes some good holiday-themed romances, what can I say? This book is the first in the Dream Harbor series, focusing on Logan, a local farmer whose life is significantly disrupted by the arrival of Jeanie, who is back in town to take over the Pumpkin Spice Café. The book does have some smut, so be prepared for that. This book is great to enjoy with a cup of coffee on a crisp fall morning.
Now, armed with a new list of books to buy, you are prepared for another trip to the bookstore. Enjoy your cozy novels this fall.
